ad0e_usb_retro_arcade_controller Arcade Controler for Retro Freaks
Retro designs continually poke their ugly but well-missed heads into our lives every so often filling our memories with how we had been happy with the most basic of anything. Gamers would remember how excited they had been as kids, playing with their black joysticks until their thumbs hurt like crazy from punching the fire button so often.

One retro-lover missed his black joystick console and desired to play the old games so badly that he went and thought up a way to play those old games on a new console. The arcade controller has a standard USB joystick fitted with a DB-9 connector and once this is wired up properly you can plug in your old joystick and have fun playing all the new games with the added bonus of having a joystick bending in all eight directions. The arcade controller also has OS X and Windows compatibility and would allow you to play old Atari games with the DB-9 port. It works with most software emulation packages.

Here is something new from the Fujisoft Inc. they have developed the Ulexit video player and this software can be used with a VOD service called the “Minna-no (everybody’s) Theater Wii” for Wii. The player itself looks pretty interesting and supports MPEG2, WMV, MPEG4 and H.264 among many others.

This is a compact software and doesn’t not take up a lot of memory. It allows digital streaming and DRM encoding technology and hence would be able to meet the demands of an increasingly technology dependent world. Pirate’s Ps3 Laptop Could Do Better

ps3-laptop-pirate Pirates Ps3 Laptop Could Do Better

There has been no dearth of good gaming laptops and Ben Heck’s PS3 Laptop stands as a witness to this fact. However, certain people choose to spend long durations and precious energy in modifying classic products and end up with something that is, well, not so great. PS3HaX modder “Pirate” undertook a 3-month project, which led to the modded PS3 laptop that certainly disappointed many gaming fans. However, Pirate’s PS3 laptop is good in a way because his laptop’s LED lit window is not only attractive but also functional.

In the next model, he is going to improvise the laptop and hopefully we will see a better PS3 laptop that is not just functional but will also bring in new features and a better design. If a cell phone and a touch screen are added to the next model, it would just do great. Our opinion is that it is not such a great product, but when trying to model your product on bigwigs, you just have to make sure, yours turns out better. One could definitely look forward to Pirate’s next generation PS3 laptop.

Bagatelle Concrete: A Pinball Machine That Plays Music
Posted in Furniture, Gadget, Gaming, High tech, Music on 14 May 2008

Bagatelle Concrete

Majority of us happen to relate retro with nostalgia. History states before consoles came in; pinball machines were the only solution for entertainment. I am sure you must have come across gamut of pinball machines till date but the Bagatelle Concrete only one-of-its-kind. If you don’t know, Bagatelle was an antecedent of modern pinball designed in France for King Louis XVI and it replicates a pointed billiard table. And now Martin Pichlmair in association with Viennese artiste and canvasser Fares Kayali has made efforts to turn this pinball machine from 70’s into a musical device.

With such a revolutionary creation, it is now possible to listen to your favorite track via a pinball machine. It mocks-up itself and exercises those samples on the center of your game play. The ornamental rudiments of the pinball game have been replaced with digital electronics and installed upon this analogue electro-mechanical machine. The core of the game remains technically untouched and all the buffers and traps are still in place. After all you play for music and not for high score.

The more radiantly you interrelate with the machine, the more intense the vinyl gets. Besides maintaining the coarseness of the electromechanical original game, it deals with integrating physical sounds happening on the playing field with manipulations of their demo. At present, there is no information about its availability but the minute it starts, it would have a gush of people inking deals with such masterwork.

RippleNote PLK570

While a month ago, the news in the air was an exclusive laptop from Korea’s own Pixel Lab and then it’s easy to understand if the lid design would be embraced by the people. And now the Korean firm is in news for offering another RippleNote lineup. The 17-inch PLK570 features some appealing hardware too, counting a WXGA+ (1,440 x 900) panel, NVIDIA’s GeForce 8700M GT, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 160GB 7,200RPM SATA drive, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, gigabit Ethernet and WiFi to boot. Other flaunting features include Bluetooth, a multi-card reader, DVI / S-Video outputs, FireWire and audio in / out ports. I am still not swayed if it would cost $2,466 but would suggest you to wait and watch the show.
