It was a little difficult for me to decide on which laptop to buy as the price range, the quality, also the features were all so vivid. Decorating their living place with gadget accessories viz. flat-screen televisions, computers, ipods, iphones or other sundry gadgets makes one feel great but not at the cost of electricity-crisis. Yes, a survey done by an energy conservation body, Energy Saving Trust (EST) said that the usage of hi-tech gadgets consume nearly half of a typical household’s total electricity by 2020.
The study says that the latest models launched today are thirstier than the earlier ones. The worst part is the non-existence of the switch button, which is the favorable factor for consumers inviting all eyeballs. The trust claims that households can save 37 pounds a year on their energy charts by switching off the devices.
A comparison says that today 60% of households carries personal computer against 3% in 1982.
And the same goes for printer, which has been handpicked by gadget freaks and is shooting up to 58% from 0.7%. The trend is to replace the old TV sets with the new ones with large screens. The report says that by 2020, 1.4% of the domestic electricity would be consumed by televisions.
Not only this, a cut in the energy will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which is a worthy step to peep into climate change
