Here is something to cope with the water shortage prevalent in today’s times. This time, a smart alec has gone ahead to develop a gadget that seems to provide water out of thin air, literally. The wall-mounted Watermill from Element Four produces up to 3.2 gallons of water per day and uses an ultraviolet sterilizer.
It can provide clean and healthy water for up to 6 members of a family for just 35 cents a day in power. However, we do not know how much the gadget will cost when it released. The gadget can also cool the water and make sure your water is tasty, fresh and chilled and above all, green.

Nanotechnology never ceases to amaze me. The nano particles have made gadgets and devices so tiny that we could not even have dreamed about such advanced technologies. Researchers have found out how water behaves inside carbon nanotubes and this discovery could help in the realization of ultra small devices and also help in medicine and others. In fact the discovery could have far reaching consequences. The so-called nano-confined water changes its structure in a limited space as that of a hollow carbon nanotube.
Normally Graphene repels water, but researchers found out that in such tiny spaces, water changes its properties and in fact Graphene does not repel water because the size becomes so small. Temperature also played a major role in this. When the temperature was reduced from 22 degrees to 8 degrees, the carbon nanotubes became more water friendly.

So what if we can’t seem to be able to contact extra terrestrials or aliens? They very well could do so, thanks to a specially prepared slab of rock, which was launched into space by the University of Aberdeen with the help of a Russian spacecraft. This was part of an exercise conducted by the European Space Agency Mission.
The Orkney rock holds evidence to the fact of life on earth thanks to the biological deposits on it. Even though it experiences extreme temperatures while going and coming back to the earth’s atmosphere, the rock can hide chemical information which hold clues to life and biology. Called the Orkney rock, it was part of the unmanned Foton M3 mission.

Radioactive waste has been giving nightmares to a number of people and in times like these when people could smuggle radioactive material for terrorist purposes, it becomes all the more necessary for us make sure the movement of radioactive material is curbed and detected at the earliest. Radiation detection technology, which has been developed by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, could be used to detect radioactive material present in vehicles on the highways.
Adaptable radiation Area Monitor could help detect nuclear material at vehicular entrances. ARAM can detect nuclear material as tiny as a grain of sand and even when a vehicle is moving at a speed of 45 miles per hour. Another device is the RadTrucks, which can detect radioactive signatures emitted by uranium, cesium, and plutonium. ARAM can be installed in a number of places such as a portable detector in a SUV, vehicle monitor alongside motorways, pedestrian portable monitor, luggage or package detector, and the possibilities are endless.
