thinnest_lcd_hdtv Worlds Thinnest LCD HDTV-9.9mm KDL-40ZX1; Courtesy Sony

Whilst last year, we witnessed Samsung reigning the geeks’ minds by creating a buzz through its offering of 40”-inch screen 1 cm thick LCD with little awareness that come 2008 and they may have to face competition with Sony. Lately, Sony has made up to headlines as it has bagged the crown for developing worlds first-ever thinnest LCD HDTV. Measuring mere 9.9mm thick, the KDL-40ZX1 almost bisects the depth of Hitachi’s previous victor (suggestible to be installed in bathroom now) and hits the market with a whisper of Pioneer’s mega thin conception.

The model sports a LED back lighting, 3,000:1 contrast ratio, 120Hz MotionFlow tech, x.v.color and BRAVIA Engine 2 image processing. Clarity about the available facts detail only one HDMI plugging onto the screen itself whereas other needless HDMI/USB/ constituent inputs are consigned to a base station, with the choice for wired or perhaps WHDI based? Japanese will be allowed to emboss the ZX1 on their walls if they are ready to shell out $4,474 on 10 November (expected date fopr its market availability).

Posted in Designer Gadgets, HDTV, LCD, Luxury Gadgets, Television on 5 June 2008

Samsung’s hybrid LCD TV

LG’s Scarlet TV will lose it’s sheen and their latest baby XCanvas power saving TV would actually lack power the moment you get a glimpse of The Digital Masterworks Art-TV from Samsung, the fourth generation of their LCD technology.

What lends this TV a persona class apart when compared to the other TVs on the block is the fact that its fine 46-inch widescreen display is not just a regular TV screen but an object de art. You have to put your eyes on the fine art frame outlining the screen instead of the same old boring traditional bezel to believe what we are talking about. The 1080p resolution, 3,000:1 contrast ratio and 500 nits brightness, make the display of the TV no less than a piece worth alluring and technology worth praising.

This hybrid LCD TV will be jointly developed by Samsung in collaboration with Thomas Kinkade Company and will be embellished with some of the American painter’s more known realistic, bucolic, and idyllic prints on the set’s 40Gb hard drive, with updates available via cable or wirelessly.

If that was enough to make you drool, we have more of it…the company is also planning to introduce a touch sensitive screen that will enable users to play with lighting or colors within an artwork by hand…now that’s what we called innovation par imagination!
