music-flow Faucet Plays Music In The Shower

Music has always been associated with bathroom and a relaxing shower needs to have the person singing for sometime at least. Recognizing this unique relationship between music and bathrooms, the Tap has been created. The Tap plays your favorite mp3 apart from being a faucet.

The faucet can store a lot of mp3s and when you turn on the tap, not only water flows, but so does music. It also comes with great quality speakers and will let you enjoy all the music you want right under the shower. However, we still can’t be too sure if the design is waterproof. It is still a design and is not out in the market yet.

4c Rohn Co Unveils OLED Shadowless Lamp

The Rohm Co Ltd has taken the privilege to prototype OLED shadowless lamp and flash which is designed in a manner where it uses an OLED lighting device with a cover that intricately diffuses light in a complex manner so that the objects illuminated by the light have no shadow. The flash instantaneously emits light with a high luminance of 100,000cd/m2.And what’s amazing is when not used as a flash;Â can be used as lighting equipment with a luminance of 3,000-4,000cd/m2 or higher.

Talking more about the features the OLED flash is composed of 40mm-square light emitting modules arranged in six rows and eight columns. The luminance of the flash can be controlled in a wide range, from dim to bright light of several thousand candelas per square meter at the maximum and flash emitted light with a luminance of 100,000cd/m2 three times.

japan_robot_suit HAL Robot Suits May Help Disabled And The Elderly To Move
Here is something that may interest all the robotic suits fans out there. A new robotic suit aims to help disabled people move by reading brain signals and this would have far reaching benefits for the disabled and elderly as well. The device is known as the HAL or Hybrid Assistive Limb. It is a computerized suit, which comes with sensors and it, reads brain signals and directs limb movement through the skin.

It is operated by a 22-pound battery and is worn as a belt around the waist. A Japanese company Cyberdyne, will manufacture these suits and may cost $1,500 for a monthly rental fee. What it does is, it goes ahead and captures the brain signals and relays them to mechanical leg braces strapped to the thighs and knees, which then provide robotic assistance to people as they walk. It still is not known when and how the HAL will go on sale and what it’s pricing is going to be.

xrayphones Cellphones That Could See Through Walls, In Theory

There have been a number of concept phones, which have been covered on this blog, but there couldn’t be anything like the one that we are going to reveal just now. The KDDI scientists have developed a concept phone that could see through the walls and in fact see through opaque surfaces.

The prototype was created using geomagnetic sensors, accelerometers, GPS etc. The device is equipped with high technology, which enables it to determine its own position and also render its surroundings on screen in OpenGL, which consists areas that are not visible. However this phone is still in a theory stage and has not been manufactured yet, even conceptually.

The Paradox Of Water And Nanotubes

nanotube The Paradox Of Water And Nanotubes

Nanotechnology never ceases to amaze me. The nano particles have made gadgets and devices so tiny that we could not even have dreamed about such advanced technologies. Researchers have found out how water behaves inside carbon nanotubes and this discovery could help in the realization of ultra small devices and also help in medicine and others. In fact the discovery could have far reaching consequences. The so-called nano-confined water changes its structure in a limited space as that of a hollow carbon nanotube.

Normally Graphene repels water, but researchers found out that in such tiny spaces, water changes its properties and in fact Graphene does not repel water because the size becomes so small. Temperature also played a major role in this. When the temperature was reduced from 22 degrees to 8 degrees, the carbon nanotubes became more water friendly.

spacevoyagin Orkney Rock May Help Aliens Detect Life On Earth
So what if we can’t seem to be able to contact extra terrestrials or aliens? They very well could do so, thanks to a specially prepared slab of rock, which was launched into space by the University of Aberdeen with the help of a Russian spacecraft. This was part of an exercise conducted by the European Space Agency Mission.

The Orkney rock holds evidence to the fact of life on earth thanks to the biological deposits on it. Even though it experiences extreme temperatures while going and coming back to the earth’s atmosphere, the rock can hide chemical information which hold clues to life and biology. Called the Orkney rock, it was part of the unmanned Foton M3 mission.

aram_suv_big Adaptable Radiation Area Monitor (ARAM) Could Help Detect Illicit Nuclear Material

Radioactive waste has been giving nightmares to a number of people and in times like these when people could smuggle radioactive material for terrorist purposes, it becomes all the more necessary for us make sure the movement of radioactive material is curbed and detected at the earliest. Radiation detection technology, which has been developed by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, could be used to detect radioactive material present in vehicles on the highways.

Adaptable radiation Area Monitor could help detect nuclear material at vehicular entrances. ARAM can detect nuclear material as tiny as a grain of sand and even when a vehicle is moving at a speed of 45 miles per hour. Another device is the RadTrucks, which can detect radioactive signatures emitted by uranium, cesium, and plutonium. ARAM can be installed in a number of places such as a portable detector in a SUV, vehicle monitor alongside motorways, pedestrian portable monitor, luggage or package detector, and the possibilities are endless.

Toshiba’s Media Server Concept Is Uber-Cool

toshiba-media-server-concept-468 Toshibas Media Server Concept Is Uber-Cool

Dreams are what inventions and concepts are all about. If you had dreamed ever if a TV, a telephone and a media server could interact with each other, Toshiba seems to have the answer. However, it still is in a concept stage and will take a while for it to materialize.

In this new system, a media server will automatically download media files from the cellphone just when the user drops near the field communication or NFC. Later, the media files can be projected on a wireless HD 1080p TV. However, this being a concept, I won’t be able to swear by it. I could only swear that Toshiba always manages to pull it off, whatever the concept is, and most of its products are great success.

It would be interesting to see a product that lets all these three gadgets interact with one another and finally have a synthesized result.

foldable-notebook Foldable Notebook May Trounce EEE PC

Here is a concept that would appeal to any gizmo freak. If you thought the Asus EEE PC was the biggest and hottest thing right now, you may be in for a shock. Yves Behar has designed a concept for a ‘brick’ design. What is being touted as the hybrid iPhone-meets-Macbook-Air gets rid of keyboards and uses an adaptive multitouch screen depending on how it is laid out.

Though tactile feedback is not available, corrective software will make errors less frequent. When opened it will work as a laptop and other modes include eBook, Desktop, and tablet mode.
