KDDI Corp Unveils Cellphones That Double Up as Musical Instruments

KDDI Corp has unveiled a number of cool mobile concepts that simply blow your mind. The best one perhaps is the “gakki to keitai” which has a cool design and of course unique features. It is the fusion of a mobile phone and a musical instrument as well as a model equipped with a solar battery. Developed in collaboration with Yamaha Design Institute, it can be describes as a mobile phone that plays and also as a music instrument that makes and receives calls.
This and other models, all feature different musical instrument designs that may blur the differences between mobile phones and music instruments. The phone with the guitar motif “Strings for fingers” has 10 strings under the sliding display on the handset. The “Band in my pocket” is a bar-shaped terminal equipped on its side with an attachment those functions as a harmonica, trombone, etc. The “Sticks in the air” phone is designed to look like a drumstick.
These definitely have to be one of the coolest phones around. But I hope they really do get manufactured and not just stay there as concepts.
