French Railway Company SNCF Launches USB RFID Tickets

We have all seen and used the smart tickets that contain the RFID tags. The RFID technology has anyway made shopping, ticketing and labeling really easy. However, the French railway company SNCF has decided to take it one step ahead with its Weneo ID Smart. The Weneo ID Smart is a user-rechargeable RFID ticket that is enclosed i a USB stick. Users can go ahead connect to their PCs and they would automatically visit SNCF payment page and they could top op their balance.
Though it is a cool idea, it infringes on privacy issues because, the data on the card includes users name, age, sex, and also the money he/she has to purchase tickets. However, the RFID scanner can access only the unique ID number and this may minimize the risk of your account being hacked. Unless E-cash is anonymous, people may hesitate to use it and continue to use good only notes and coins.
