sony-reader, Sony’s Reader Gets Firmware Update Today - Adds EPUB Support and the Ability to Reflow PDFs, Sony’s Reader, Sony, EPUB, PDF

I have been tempted by Sony Reader ever since device primary went on sale, but a handful of issue has kept me from really picking one up. Things similar to an imperfect screen declaration I can live with, but device PDF support, mainly when resizing documents that are superior to display is less than awesome.

But as of today, PRS-505 Reader is receiving a firmware update that will not simply allow it to access and accept non-secure ebooks in EPUB format, but will be also support Adobe eBooks with DRM and lastly have capability to reflow standard text-based PDF files. Since the majority of my own group of ebooks is in the PDF format, I’m hoping this update will lastly make Sony’s Reader a feasible option for me. But I think I’m still going to hold off for a while and monitor the various Sony Reader forums to see how well update in fact performs. And I am sorry to say that you owners of unique Sony Reader, the PRS-500, are out of luck since the update is only obtainable for current model.
