Five future printing technologies
Posted in Printer, Technology on 30 June 2007

Think about printing without ink, on the same paper at least 500 times by erasing the earlier matter and hanging your designer printer inside your drawing room as it is no more a stationery but an accessory.

Print 2 pages per second with Inkjet

An innovative technology named “Memjet” printer technology has been developed by SilverBrook. The device is accessible on A4 page and is capable of printing 2 pages per second but you would have to invest $2,995 for getting it.

Temporary Printing Machine

“Temporary Printing Machine” delivers colorless creations by using a range of ultraviolet LEDs and rotating it over a light responsive surface. The temporary factor is not for a fraction as the display lasts for a minute and 30 seconds and then fades gradually, leaving a blank canvas for the machine to print.

Toshiba printer erases and reprints on the same paper

seems that technology has started respecting paper as the latest printer developed by Toshiba—B-SX8R can not only erase what is printed on it but also can reprint on it. And to your much wonder this can be done up to 500 times on a single paper.
The credit for this goes to the special pigment used by Toshiba. The pigment has the tendency to react to heat. The pigment turns black if heated above 180 degrees, creating an image but if you plan to erase this creation then heat the surface between 130 and 170 degrees allowing the pigment reverting to white and doing the needful.Inkless Printer

Inkless Printer

Imagine printing without ink. Yes, now this is no more restricted to imagination as the Zink Imaging has developed the world’s first inkless printer. The demand for ink is replaced by the special paper made up of “micro-thin layers containing three types of colour-forming dye crystals - yellow (top), magenta (middle) and cyan (bottom).”
Now, without the involvement of ink you can have printed paper within 30-seconds. Just make up your mind to spend $200 for this device as it would be equal to the cost of the ink used by other printers and in fact less. The proportion and the contrast of the color at each pixel is under-control by the temperature and exposure to the heater element.
